Hanging of the Greens

Each year on the first Sunday of Advent, we continue (sort of) a tradition (reportedly) started by Martin Luther (!) with the “Hanging of the Greens.”  Our simple (some might say austere) old sanctuary is decorated with seasonal greenery and flowers, an advent wreath, and a nativity scene.  The worship service on November 29 focused on the meaning of these symbols, each of which points to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Worship was filled with joyful songs and great anticipation of His birth!
